Dandiganahalli Dam – Nandi Hills – Rayakallu – Jain Temple

Corporate Event

Long overdue post !

Disclaimer – We were not allowed to share images of the adult participants as it is against their company policy hence their kids smiled to the camera ..! 😃

It was an early Sunday morning, when Deepak and Hemanth boarded the tempo travellers, did their primary check and headed to Seshadripuram. At the location, we welcomed 5 enthusiatic kids and 13 adults aboard from a government organization (confidential).

By 8.30am, the two vehicles made their way to the breakfast point as everyone was starving. We stopped bang at the base of Nandi Hills, just before the gates, by a small dhaba owned by a Tamilian man.

We were served steaming idlis, freshly made dosas and hot dal vadas! Tea and coffee came in towards the end. Everyone was advised to eat light as the climb was yet to begin.

Post breakfast, both the travellers made the ascend to Nandi Hills.

At the top, the beautiful sky and the soft breeze brought an instant smile to everyone’s face.

Everyone did what they wanted, for example, go the view point, visit the temple, walk around the gardens, sit at the picnic tables, climb down the hill or simply hang around. The kids couldn’t stop running around, and for a moment we felt like baby sitters instead of tour organizers.

Having spent about an hour and a half atop Nandi Hills, we started our descent.

Around 1pm we reached the base of the betta. Our next stop was the lunch point.

Entering Sinchana Palace, managed by a Gujarati, we filled ourselves into the family room reserved exclusively for ABC members.

We were served delicious thaalis with unlimited servings of the items as everyone was a major foody!

Post lunch, we drove through the scenic route between hills and fields leading to Dandiganahalli Dam. Resting ourselves after the heavy meal, we made a surprise stop after an hour at Rayakallu. The water level was higher than the last time we visited, thank God for the rains. Some people walked across the dam, some checked out the temple while some others were busy clicking pictures of the beautiful landscape. After a quick browse around, we reached Dandiganahalli Dam by 3.45pm.

As picturesque as ever, overwhelmed by the scenery, it was simply marvellous.

We played cricket and frisbee, ladies sat around by the river, men explored the surroundings a bit and to our luck, we didn’t have the sun overhead.

Snacks was served to everyone and we made sure nothing was littered around!

Having a pleasant evening, the rains decided to navigate us back to our vehicles.

The journey to the dinner point on Bangalore – Hyderabad highway started.

We reached the highway around 7pm, too soon for dinner, we made another pitstop at another view point, The Jain Temple, above IPC.

Since we had a mix crowd, not all Hindus, only a few people visited the three temples in the compound while others witnessed the city view on one side and the natural beauty on the other.

Having built our appetite enough, around 8pm we reached Amravathi Restaurant for a buffet dinner. Non-vegetarians were served with chicken biryani and the veg version for the remainder people with respective gravies and also raita. Sweets and cold drinks were served on the table as well.

Filling our tummies, as there was only bed to look forward to next, we reached the first drop point by 10.15pm at Seshadripuram and the other drop point at Banaswadi by 11pm.

I would like to end with acknowledging the entire team’s effort for pulling off the event, namely, Deepak, Hemanth and Harshul, without them I wouldn’t have been able to do this at all ! CHEERS GUYS !
