Kaivara Betta Trek, 80km from Bangalore’s CBD. Bengaluru – Kolar Highway

Harshul and I started the drive at 06.00am from Bangalore’s CBD to the bikers meeting point near KR Puram. By 06.45am 7 more people had gathered on 4 bikes and 1 scooter.
Mr. Rafeeq, with the maximum riding experience, was made the captain, here are a few tips from him to all the riders –

Dress Right When You Ride
Cost and fashion may come into play as well. Motorcycling gear is cut longer and a bit roomier to fit over layers. It also provides the best protection from the elements with tighter wind seals at the neck, wrists and ankles, and is made from materials that will help protect you in case of an accident. The following items should be worn each and every time you ride:
Helmet
Eye Protection
Jacket
Gloves
Pants
Boots
And keep rain gear handy in the event of inclement weather
Attach strips of reflective tape to helmets and clothing.
Purchase safety clothing with reflectors.
Invest in a high-performance horn and/or headlight.

Keeping safety in mind, we all followed Mr. Rafeeq’s instructions from the begining of the ride until the very end.
We started towards Kaivara as a pack and made our next stop at the breakfast point by 08.00am.
Eating light like steaming idli vada and hot tea or coffee, we prepared ourselves for the trek.
Post ice breakers and photo session, we headed towards Kaivara.
Following each other, keeping together, we reached the base of the trek point by 10.30am.
The riders kept their gears and bags in the car and equipped themselves for the ascend.
The trek up was slow and relaxed as nobody was in a rush. We were welcomed by goats and monkeys midway.
The lush green flora and the wild fauna enriched the entire experience of the climb.
Cool breeze accompanied us till the top!
We reached the top by 11.30am with the sun over head and put our caps at work.
Relaxing, getting to know a little more about one another, clicking pictures, doing monkey business and simply having fun we didn’t realize the time fly by.
At 12.30pm we started our descent. Going down was swift and easy.
We visited the temple at the base of the hill and made our way to the vehicles.
Everyone was starving.
On the way to the lunch point, we stopped for fresh coconut water.
The ride was beautiful as we drove through the feilds and meadows.
Leena, an old ABC friend, rode the Royal Enfield with Hemanth Pillion under Mr. Rafeeq’s guidance. She’s an inspiration to me.
Reaching the lunch point by 02.00pm, we threw ourselves on chairs under the fan as the sun was draining our energy.
Chewing on hot delicious North Indian meals, veg and non-veg, we felt our energy coming back as well as completely relaxed. Spending sometime conversing after the meal, we headed towards Bangalore City by 3.30pm.
We concluded our Bikers Rally and Trek with the genuine warmth of friendship and promises to meet soon again!
