This trip being with family members I won’t be going into in depth details.
We started the drive from Bangalore’s CBD at 8am and headed towards Bangalore – Tumkur Highway.
Since my car is exempted from paying the tolls, I’m not aware how much we would’ve spent, although based on speculation it shouldn’t be more than 500rs in total for one way till Chikamagalur.
The drive was peaceful, we stopped at a Nandini like joint for breakfast, where the cost for 4 was less than 600rs.
On the way, at Hassan, we passed by windmills on the hills, good view.
We reached Chikamangalur by 1pm.
At 4.30pm we started from our homestay towards Mullayangiri, which was a drive of 30mins.
The last 2km stretch of the road was pathetic.
The locals mentioned that the climb to the top of the hill, where the Shiva temple is, is about 500steps.
500 steps seemed nothing as compared to Hulukadi temple trek which was 1200 steps + trekking beyond that.
We climbed up in 15minutes, looked around the temple, trying to find a way to navigate further on the hill, but couldn’t.
Mullayangiri, being the highest peak of Karnataka has a very high footfall.
The climb down was easy and the way back was simple.
One suggestion – start driving back before it gets dark.Feel free to join ABC for such trips! Inbox for details or call on – 9620948312 .
